A yoga therapist is a well-trained and experienced yoga teacher with substantial additional training in therapeutic applications and other supporting skills (iayt.org)
Guided by the ancient health science of Ayurveda and yogic philosophy, yoga therapy empowers the client to actively participate in their own healing and wellness. Every session is catered to the individual and carefully personalized.
A typical session may include pranayama (breath work), deep stretching, vinyasa, conditioning of muscles, restorative postures and meditation. Clients may receive feedback and homework after each session to help continue to build their wellness practice on their own.
Common session goals: general wellness, injury recovery, trauma-informed yoga, stress management, chronic pain, anxiety, depression, prenatal and fertility.
